2nd Place in SlashRoots Developers Competition
The 2012 Slashroots Developer Conference was held on January 26-27, 2012 at the Faculty of Law, University of the West Indies, Mona. The event is hosted by the Mona School of Business and focused on the social problems within the thematic areas of Agriculture & Fisheries, Regional Trade and Tourism, and how technology can be used to mitigate these problems.

The challenge was to conceptualise, design and build a solution in the form of an application that used the data that was available from government in the areas of Agriculture & Fisheries, Regional Trade and Tourism.
Our solution was called Harvestyme.
Problem Being Solved
The gap that currently exist between farmers and consumers are hurting farmers in that, farmers are planting crops and growing livestock with a faint idea of what current market demand is.
Consumers are equally underserved because of lack of knowledge of where particular goods are available for sale. Therefore, facilitation services are needed to help farmers and consumers engage in mutually profitable transactions.

Solution
Therefore, we have come up with Harvestyme. An application that merges the gap that exists between producers and consumers. With the use of open data, harvestyme will give both producers and consumers useful, relevant agricultural information.
Harvestyme will do this in a simple way. It will notify consumers when producers have harvested their crop and where the crop is located to facilitate purchase.
Technologies used
PHP, JavaScript, MySQL and Junar API.
